Overseas visitor spending in China rose 27.8% in the first seven months of 2026 while services exports grew 17.1% and the services trade deficit narrowed by about 16%. Juneyao Air's twentieth-anniversary data puts international transfers at 88% of its transfer passengers, up from 73% in 2024, with volumes rising from 110,000 to 450,000 in a year and 240,000 in the first seven months of 2026. The 240-hour transit list covers 57 countries at 65 ports, and nine airports allow 24-hour direct transit without immigration formalities. Zhangjiajie drew 994,500 inbound visitors from January to August 2026, up 20.47%, while Hunan's cross-border tourism revenue reached US$112.28 million, up 42.83%. Zhangjiajie issued 178,000 foreign-exchange wallet cards and grew its licensed agency list from 4 to 19, Changsha went from 487 to 973 certified foreign-language guides, and Hunan ranked ninth among provinces in Ctrip's summer data.

Foreign-wallet transactions in China rose 80.6% by value and 81.8% by count from January to August, across nearly 60 wallets from 16 countries. More than 11 million inbound visitors paid by app, TenPay Global cut wallet onboarding to under a week, PayPal and WeChat Pay connected on 27 May, and Zhangjiajie issued a passport-only digital RMB tourism card.

Guangzhou Baiyun retook the national lead with 43.33 million passengers in the first half and set a post-2020 national record in August at 8.394 million. It opened or increased over 30 international routes to pass 100 points, and Air Canada will fly Vancouver to Guangzhou three times a week from 4 May 2027. Jingxian's Xuan paper park drew 189,100 summer visitors, up 63.44%, after a prime-time drama filmed there; Beijing took 3.86 million inbound visitors and 39.7% more spending; visa-free entries passed 23 million but slowed to 26%; per-visitor revenue is 29.1% of the global average.

Guangzhou readied 1,800 refund stores and 4,600 badge-discount outlets for a 59 million-trip holiday and the 140th Canton Fair, Hubei went from 57 refund stores to 864, Wuhan cut port verification to under a minute, Suzhou turned departure day into a shopping window, and Guangxi put a refund zone inside an expo hall.
