A good planning service is not for everybody, and pretending otherwise wastes your time. Here is who does better without one.

Probably Not for You If...

You enjoy the research. Some travellers plan for months because they like it - spreadsheets, forums, Chinese apps, the lot. If that is part of the pleasure, keep it.

You are travelling one city, one week. Land in Shanghai or Beijing, stay put, use the metro. Booking systems will not defeat you, and a plan adds little.

You are extremely flexible on dates and cities. The value of planning rises with fixed-capacity bookings - parks, timed entries, long-distance rail on specific days. If you genuinely do not care which day you go anywhere, you need less help.

You want a group experience. If you would rather travel with other people and have every hour organised, a group departure is the honest recommendation, not a semi-self-guided plan.

You Save the Most With One When...

You are travelling in peak windows. Chinese New Year and the first week of October are when rail seats and hotel rooms vanish. Knowing what to book, and when, is the whole game.
